الحمد لله رب العالمين

والصلاة والسلام على اشرف الأنبياء والمرسلين وعلى آله وصحبه اجمعين

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

May all visitors of this blog, from wherever you may be, or from whatever age you might be in, may all of you are enjoying Allah Taala's blessings (rahmah) every second of every day. Alhamdulillah.

Dear honoured guests,

On behalf of all committee members, the Publication and Promotion Central committee graciously welcome you to our official blog for this upcoming grand event, IKOD'10.

IKOD'10???

We are sensing a lot of question marks out there. (smiling) Allow us to help erase those marks and enlighten you on what IKOD'10 is all about...

Although it may sound like "cod fish", let us first clarify that with a statement; "No, IKOD'10 is not a sibling, neither it is a cousin, nor a long lost relative of the famous cod fish from which humans have derived many benefits from. It is not a new species of cod fish, or any kind of fish. IT IS NOT A FISH."

(We are sensing more question marks than ever..and some raised eyebrows too..)

Now, for the moment of truth.

The truth is, IKOD'10 is the acronym for IIUM Kuantan Open Day 2010.

(visitors: oooo...)

IIUM Kuantan Open Day 2010

At the gates of IIUM Kuantan campus

Basically, IIUM Kuantan Open Day 2010 is a three-day event during which many activities, exhibitions, performances and competitions will be held in conjunction with IKOD'10.

The details are as the following:

Date: 8th- 10th October 2010

Venue: International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuantan campus

A little history

Previously, an almost similar event was held last year which was named "I-Quest". You can say I-Quest is its predecessor, however, IKOD'10 has certain differences compared to I-Quest.

Theme

The theme for IKOD'10 is:

"Promoting Excellence and Knowledge to the Ummah"

IIUM or more fondly known as UIAM (Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia) among Malaysians strives to provide the best education (at the university level) for its undergraduates, emphasizing on both worldly knowledge and Islamic-based knowledge ('ilm ad-dunya wal akhirah).

However, we would like to pose one question here; what is the benefit of a person, with so much knowledge and excellence, but only keeps it to himself?

What use is a person who, for example, have extensive knowledge about Al-Quran (how to read it properly, knowledge of tajwid, tafsir of the Quran, etc), but does not bring others to the same level of knowledge and understanding as he is?

What good is that person's knowledge, if he does not spread it to those around him?

Through programmes such as IKOD'10, IIUM staff and students sincerely wish to reach out to the community. To reach out to the ummah. To share whatever little knowledge and excellence that Allah Taala gave us, and continues to pour down onto us, onto our beloved ummah.

For our beloved Rasulullah, Muhammad SAW once said, "The faith (iman) of one of you is not complete until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."

We love seeking knowledge.
We love striving for excellence, for the sake of this ummah.
And hence, it is our greatest love and desire that the ummah gets the same, if not more, knowledge and excellence.

This, is the very foundation of IIUM Kuantan Open Day 2010.

Objectives

Briefly, these are the objectives / targets that IKOD'10 committee members hope to achieve:

1. To promote IIUM Kuantan Campus as a medical and science based campus

2. To manifest and reflect the unique abilities, universal ideas and Islamic identity of the university and its students

3. To appreciate the uniqueness of Islamic culture adaptation in different ethnicities both locally and internationally

4. To instill and enhance leadership qualities in IIUM students

5. To become the platform for society to obtain information concerning health and scientific knowledge as well as to integrate them with Islamic perspectives

6. To strengthen the ukhuwwah among the university's community and members of the public

Visitors

IIUM Kuantan Open Day 2010 is open to all members of the public. Whether you are residents of Kuantan, or of other districts in Pahang, or even from other states, all of you, are graciously invited to this 3-day event.

Hopes and Aspirations

IKOD'10 committee members aspire to give the best to ensure a smooth flow of events during the three day time frame.

It is a very big amanah (responsibility) placed on our small human shoulders.

We will try our best to meet our honoured guests' expectations. However, we ask for your kind and understanding judgement, in understanding that our shoulders are but the same as yours; human ones. And humans are created to be imperfect creatures, so that we may learn from our past mistakes and experiences in our short time on this earth.

Hence, should any of our honoured guests experience any sort of dissatisfaction during IKOD'10, the committee members would first and foremost extend our sincerest apologies.

On a last note, IIUM Kuantan community and IKOD'10 committee members sincerely hope that all of you will come and bring life to our events.

Bring you friends, family and relatives along. Spread the word, spread the message, spread the love!
(err..the last one is not related..)

We await you, oh honoured الضيوف (guests).
